During my pregnancy I spent hours searching the internet, taking in as much information as I could learn from others’ experiences. I found that a lot of the spaces I turned to didn’t really focus on the mother’s overall wellbeing. Much of it was the role mothers play in their family nucleus- the caregiver. But, at the end of the day that role can be depleting. I wondered, who is taking care of mama?
Whisper and Muse, Designed to take care of the Busy Modern Mom
I am walking example that it is so important to have balance, ensuring that our own well doesn’t run dry. Me out of balance can look like a hot mess! I run around constantly on the go with my hands in too many unfinished projects. I say “yes” to demands of me more than I say “no”. And my body slowly begins to run-down, leaving me taking every remedy out there to fight off a cold. It doesn’t work. As much as I try.
I operate best when balanced. It’s just the way it is. So what is balance to me? It is a sense of inner peace. A calm before a storm that never comes. I look at my calendar and see a busy day, but I also see pockets of time reserved for me. Maybe it’s a 15 minute tea break or walk around the block. A yoga class or reminding myself that it’s a Tuesday and I get to indulge in a home facial later in the evening. It’s the little sips of me that allow my well to fill.
So, it is my hope that this space, Whisper and Muse, provides sips of wellness for the busy mom. Enough little sips here and there to take care of YOU, so you can continue being the amazing caregiver that you are.
I intend to share all of the resources that I have relied on during my journey. I am definitely not an expert at all things, but I am a diligent researcher of many :).
